This study profiles 16 AmeriCorps grantees that received Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) funding in 2017 and 2018 to address the opioid epidemic.

These grantees all proposed to use recovery coach program models utilizing AmeriCorps members as recovery coaches/navigators to guide and support those suffering from opioids addiction through the recovery process.

The characteristics of these programs, their commonalities, and their differences are examined in this study. Additionally, emerging findings about these programs based on key informant interviews conducted with a sample of program staff and AmeriCorps recovery coaches are documented.

Finally, the results of the case studies and data collected through interviews and project document reviews inform a set of preliminary programmatic and evaluation/measurement recommendations aimed to strengthen these programs and build their evidence-base in the future.
