Return on Investment Study: SBP

SBP is a national organization that engages in disaster recovery efforts across the country. SBP seeks to build disaster resiliency amongst those most vulnerable and to streamline the rebuilding of homes for those who have survived disaster to reduce the time and cost of disaster relief. To better understand the impact of the program in relation to costs, AmeriCorps commissioned a return on investment (ROI) analysis.

The Reading Partners Effect: Influencing the academic and career pathways of Reading Partners AmeriCorps Alumni

Reading Partners placed AmeriCorps members in California schools to provide one-on-one literacy tutoring for economically disadvantaged students at locations in Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Silicon Valley. At the end of the first program year, the AmeriCorps members were responsible for measurably increasing the literacy skills of at least 1,471 high-need target students. In addition, the AmeriCorps members leveraged an additional 3,500 community volunteers who were engaged in individualized reading tutoring through the model.

UWGC BellXcel Summer Program

The BellXcel Summer Program is an evidence-based summer learning program that targets rising sixth graders at three middle schools in Greenville County, South Carolina. The program’s aim is to combat summer learning loss and support the transition between elementary and middle school among low-income students who were identified as academically and/or behaviorally at-risk. The primary intended outcome of the BellXcel Summer Program was to improve student course performance in math and English/language arts (ELA).

Public Education Partners: Literacy Coaching

The United Way of Greenville County’s (UWGC) OnTrack Greenville initiative is a collective impact dropout prevention program for middle grades students. Literacy Coaching is a model that combines two evidence-based approaches to coaching teachers in order to improve student performance. UWGC’s subgrantee, Public Education Partners (PEP), implemented Literacy Coaching between 2015 and 2018.

Greenville County Schools: Teen Leadership

The OnTrack Greenville Initiative is a collective impact dropout-prevention program for middle grade students. To help students improve behavior and stay on track toward graduating on time, Greenville County Schools offered the Teen Leadership course. The Teen Leadership curriculum targets middle school students to support leadership development and character education. Greenville County Schools offered the course at four OnTrack Greenville treatment schools between 2015 and 2018.
