Priorities

In the FY 2016 AmeriCorps Indian Tribes competition, CNCS seeks to prioritize the investment of national service resources in:

  • Disaster Services – improving community resiliency through disaster preparation, response, recovery, and mitigation
  • Economic Opportunity – increasing economic opportunities for communities, specifically opportunity youth (see Glossary), both as the population served and as AmeriCorps members
  • Education – improving student academic performance, including subject matter related to Science, Technology, Engineering, and/or Mathematics (STEM), and/or serving students who attend Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) schools.
  • Healthy Futures – positively impacting behavioral health outcomes and/or increasing the capacity of tribal communities to offer behavioral health prevention and support services
  • Veterans and Military Families – positively impacting the quality of life of veterans and improving military family strength

Application Deadline

The deadline for applications to the 2016 Notice of Funding is Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time. 

CNCS expects that successful applicants will be notified no later than July 1, 2016.

Technical Assistance Call Schedule 

All calls will take place at 3:00 PM Eastern on the date identified.

All calls will be recorded and the replay will be available approximately one hour after the call has ended. Call replay will be available until the application due date, May 4, 2016.

March 8 – Overview of the Notice of Funding: For questions about the Notice of Funding, application deadline, review process, funding priorities and projected award deadline. Participants are encouraged to review the Notice of Funding prior to this call.

March 10 - AmeriCorps Basics: For questions about the basic concepts and components of AmeriCorps State and National grants, the application timeline, or other general questions about AmeriCorps. Participants are encouraged to review the “Introduction to AmeriCorps State and National”, “Key AmeriCorps Grant Terminology and Concepts” and “Introduction to AmeriCorps Members” technical assistance documents before the call.

March 17 - AmeriCorps Program Management and Design: For questions including appropriate AmeriCorps member service activities, staffing for the program, grantee responsibilities, or any other question related to program design or program management. Participants are encouraged to review the “Categories of AmeriCorps Grants” and “AmeriCorps Program Management and Design” technical assistance documents before the call.
