Volunteerism and work-based learning can provide critical preparation for individuals as they transition from school to the workplace. The Department of Labor Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) and AmeriCorps created guidance and resources to promote national service as an option for all Americans, including those with disabilities.

The Open Government Directive encourages federal agencies to embody principles of collaboration, participation, and transparency to form the cornerstone of an open government. AmeriCorps embraces these guiding principles across our agency and programs.

Plain Writing

The Plain Writing Act of 2010 requires federal agencies to write "clear Government communication that the public can understand and use." AmeriCorps is committed to plain writing, which is why we continue to train our employees and strengthen internal oversight processes.
