Addressing Community Challenges Through Service
AmeriCorps engages communities, various public-private partnerships, and governmental collaborations to address local challenges through service. Together, we use evidence-based solutions in our six focus areas: education, economic opportunity, disaster services, environmental stewardship, healthy futures, and veterans and military families.
Initiatives
AmeriCorps supports a variety of special initiatives.
United We Serve
President Biden calls upon Americans to unite through national service and volunteerism to counter the corrosive effects of hate-fueled violence on our democracy and public safety.
National Partnership for Student Success
The National Partnership for Student Success supports a nationwide three-year effort to engage 250,000 more tutors and mentors to accelerate student recovery and success.
READY SET SERVE
AmeriCorps is a proud partner of the READY SET campaign, a nationwide call to action to support students impacted by COVID-19. Become a tutor, a mentor, or serve young people through AmeriCorps opportunities.
Youth Mental Health Corps
AmeriCorps has launched the nation’s first Youth Mental Health Corps in partnership with the Schultz Family Foundation and Pinterest. Building off AmeriCorps’ hands-on experience supporting youth wellbeing and lessons learned from Public Health AmeriCorps, this innovative collaboration will provide hundreds of AmeriCorps members with the opportunity to serve as peer support specialists and navigators at schools and in communities to connect students to care. It will also create service-to-career pathways, empowering young adults with onramps into behavioral health careers.
Employers of National Service
Employers of National Service connects AmeriCorps and Peace Corps alumni with employers from the private, public, and nonprofit sectors. Through this initiative, employers have increased access to a dedicated, highly qualified, and mission-oriented pool of potential employees, and national service alumni have increased opportunities to apply their skills in the workplace.
Schools of National Service
Schools of National Service recognize that individuals who serve in AmeriCorps bring tremendous value to higher education and other post-secondary experiences. Their leadership skills and commitment to civic engagement benefit the institution, other students, and their community.
Communities
AmeriCorps programs and initiatives provide valuable resources that strengthen communities and build capacity. Through these efforts, Americans are better able to respond to community needs and challenges, and are more likely to serve in their neighborhoods.
Native Nations
Through national service, AmeriCorps provides the opportunities for Native Nations and Indigenous communities to address their unique priorities.
Build a Partnership
AmeriCorps is more than a service program; it’s a network. Becoming a grantee is just one way to partner with AmeriCorps. We engage the private sector, foundations, and higher education institutions in a number of strategic partnerships.
What We Do
AmeriCorps brings people together to serve communities. AmeriCorps and AmeriCorps Seniors offer individuals and organizations flexible ways to make a local and lasting impact while focusing on six key areas to make an impact.
About AmeriCorps
