Subject to the availability of appropriations for fiscal year 2006, the Corporation for National and Community Service (hereinafter the “Corporation’’) announces the anticipated availability of approximately $69,200,000 to award to new and re-competing AmeriCorps State and National grant programs FY 2006. The grants are the AmeriCorps States and Territories Competitive Program, State Education Award Program, National Direct Program, National Education Award Program, National Planning Grants Program, National Professional Corps Program, Indian Tribes Program, and States and Territories without Commissions Program. Of those funds, the Corporation anticipates that at least 15% will support applicants that have not received AmeriCorps operational grants for the last five years. The Corporation anticipates an additional $101 million to support continuation grants for grantees in their second and third year of AmeriCorps funding during FY 2006. The full projected value of the education awards anticipated for new and continuation programs in FY 2006 is $157 million. Re-competing programs have completed three years of funding and are required to re-compete rather than participate in the streamlined continuation application process. This NOFO focuses on the new and re-competing competition for FY 2006. Applicants for continuation grants will receive guidance in separate documentation.
