Washington, DC – AmeriCorps, the federal agency for service and volunteerism, announced that the 2025 Native Nations Notice of Funding Opportunity, along with the  2025 AmeriCorps State and National Planning Notice of Funding Opportunity, are now open. These funding opportunities are open to federally recognized tribes, and tribal organizations that are controlled, authorized, or chartered by federally recognized Indian Tribes, who are interested in hosting AmeriCorps members starting in the summer of of 2025.

This competition is designed to support Tribal Nations in addressing their unique and critical needs. Priorities include strengthening education, preserving traditional languages and cultural practices, advancing environmental stewardship, fostering economic opportunity, promoting healthy futures, and enhancing the quality of life for veterans. These funding opportunities will place hundreds of AmeriCorps members across Indian Country to create positive, lasting change.

“This funding opportunity represents AmeriCorps’ continued commitment to our Native Nations partners,” said Sonali Nijhawan, Director, AmeriCorps State and National. “This grant competition will result in meaningful investments in projects that are led by Native Nations organizations to meet their communities’ unique and urgent needs.”

Strong proposals will demonstrate how tribal programs will support their members, ensuring success during and after their service.

A new feature in this year’s competition is that applicants may be eligible for 100% match replacement. More information about match replacement can be found in the Notice of Funding Opportunity and application instructions on the funding page.

These grants represent a significant federal investment in Native Nations and locally driven initiatives that aim to build strong Tribal Nations and Indigenous communities. This funding, which is part of AmeriCorps State and National, will engage individuals in service projects that strengthen partnerships, enhance community capacity, and prepare the next generation of public service leaders.

The application deadline is Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at 5 p.m. ET. Successful applicants will likely be notified at the end of May 2025, and funding will be released in July. More details can be found on the funding page
