Sen. Mikulski, Mayor Rawlings-Blake Help Open New AmeriCorps Campus in Baltimore
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) will open the doors of its new AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) campus in Baltimore on Monday, November 3.
CNCS CEO Wendy Spencer, Sen. Barbara Mikulski, and Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake will deliver remarks. They will be joined by AmeriCorps NCCC Director Jose Phillips and currently serving AmeriCorps members. A tour of the recently renovated facility will immediately follow.
AmeriCorps NCCC is a full-time, residential, national service program in which 2,000 young adults between the ages of 18 to 24 serve nationwide. During their 10-month terms, members respond to disasters and serve in national parks, among other programs.
The Atlantic Region Campus serves 10 states – Conn., Del., Mass., Md., Maine, N.H., N.J., Pa., R.I., and Vt. in addition to D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
