CEO will tour AmeriCorps service projects and announce new resources to help flood recovery in South Carolina  
 
COLUMBIA, S.C. – On Tuesday, October 27, Wendy Spencer, CEO of the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), will travel to Columbia, S.C. to meet with AmeriCorps members and witness recovery efforts firsthand.  During her site visits, Ms. Spencer will announce new resources to support in the continued disaster recovery efforts.   
 
As of today, CNCS has deployed more than 400 AmeriCorps members to support South Carolina flood relief efforts. These AmeriCorps members are removing flood damage debris from homes, distributing donated goods, leading volunteers, and doing damage assessments.
 
The Corporation for National and Community Service is a federal agency that engages more than five million Americans in service through its Senior Corps, AmeriCorps, Social Innovation Fund, and other programs, and leads President Obama's national call to service initiative, United We Serve. From forest fires and floods, to hurricanes and tornadoes, participants in CNCS programs have provided critical support to millions of Americans affected by disasters since 1994. CNCS CEO Wendy Spencer will visit multiple sites throughout Columbia serving alongside service members and meeting with national service partners on the ground. Details of the site visits are listed below.

Tuesday, October 27, 2015
 
10:45 a.m. – noon     Tour 211 Call Center
Wendy Spencer will meet with Tim Ervolina, president of the United Way Association, and AmeriCorps members to tour the 211 Call Center. 
 
12:30 p.m. – 2 p.m.    FEMA Corps Ride Along 
Wendy Spencer will meet with service members and discuss the FEMA AIR (assess, inform, report) mission and their experience in serving survivors on this deployment. 
 
2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.      NECHAMA Work Site Visit 
Wendy Spencer will meet with the NECHAMA operations director and NCCC team to see the progress of mucking and guttering operations in Columbia and discuss the current work site progress. 
 
4:30 p.m. – 5 p.m.     Round Table Discussion with FEMA Corps Team 
Wendy Spencer, NCCC program director, and FEMA Corps team will discuss how FEMA Corps is serving survivors through the FEMA infrastructure.
