CEO of national service agency will administer Senior Corps pledge for first-time in history

On Friday, May 22, the First Lady of Hawaii, Dawn Amano-Ige, Corporation for National and Community Service CEO Wendy Spencer, and Hawaii Senior Corps volunteers will convene in Honolulu to make history when Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion volunteers are the first-in-the-nation to take the Senior Corps pledge.

The Senior Corps pledge will be administered at a volunteer recognition event celebrating Hawaii’s Senior Corps volunteers as part of Senior Corps Week activities across the nation. This year will also mark the 50th anniversary of the Foster Grandparent Program; Hawaii was an original pilot site in 1965.
