FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Jun 03, 2016

On Monday, June 6, Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) CEO Wendy Spencer, joined by Mayor Kevin Faulconer, will make an important announcement that will benefit some of San Diego’s underserved neighborhoods.

Spencer and Mayor Faulconer will be joined by Congressman Juan Vargas (CA-51), Congressman Scott Peters (CA-52), and Councilmember Myrtle Cole to discuss how the federal government will partner with local leaders to create jobs, improve schools, redevelop stable and affordable housing, increase public safety efforts, and leverage private investments.

Wendy Spencer was appointed to serve as CEO of CNCS by President Obama and confirmed unanimously by the U.S. Senate in 2012. CNCS is the federal agency that engages millions of Americans in service through AmeriCorps and Senior Corps programs and leads the President's national call to service initiative, United We Serve.
