WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Tuesday, September 11, Congresswoman Virginia Foxx will join AmeriCorps members for a volunteer service project in honor of the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance. Joined by Barbara Stewart, CEO of the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), the federal agency which administers the AmeriCorps program, the Congresswoman will make brief remarks before being sworn in as an honorary AmeriCorps member at a local Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County build site.

The September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance is the culmination of efforts started by 9/11 family members and support groups to establish the service day as a way to honor victims and heroes of 9/11. CNCS leads this nationwide effort that pays tribute to and honors the victims and heroes of that day.

Media is invited to attend duration of event. Following the remarks and swearing in, Barbara Stewart and Rep. Foxx will tour the build site and join the volunteers working on site projects at 2:15p.m.
