FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Aug 07, 2009

Dear Colleagues,

It’s been ten days since the release of the new My AmeriCorps, and I thought you might appreciate a brief update on the status of the system. I would like to extend a special thanks to those who worked directly on the My AmeriCorps project, and everyone who depends on it, for your patience throughout this process.

Traffic through the system has been impressive, particularly just after launch. This chart shows a user breakdown over the first four days:

We have experienced no major problems thus far and do not anticipate any. A few minor glitches that were quickly fixed include the following:

  • Applicants whose applications had been static for more than 60 days had been changed to status of administrative decline. All of these were reversed.

  • Interest Accrual requests were not being properly forwarded to institutions in a small number of cases. They are now properly forwarding.

  • Members of existing NCCC classes were not appearing on the rosters for those classes. They are appearing now.

  • All S&N programs from 2007 and before have been locked to prevent incorrect enrollments on past programs.

  • An issue caused the system to become nonresponsive when some grantees clicked on manage user functions. This issue has been resolved.

We expect the number of users to continue to increase over the next few weeks. If you have not already done so, please go to My AmeriCorps to test out the system. If you have any problems at all, please call the eGrants help desk at 1-888-677-7849 as we continue to address challenges as they are identified.

As you adjust to the new system, please remember that webinars and tutorials are still available at the Resource Center, which are designed to walk you through using the functions of My AmeriCorps. AmeriCorps State and National participants are encouraged to sign up for guidance on Program Management, Member Recruitment, Member Enrollment and Member Management. You will also find My AmeriCorps tutorials to use at your convenience.

Again, a special thanks to all those who worked so hard to make this project a success, and the rest of you for your patience as we continue to improve our systems.

In Service,

Kristin McSwain
