FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Dec 13, 2009

Dear Colleagues,

A few minutes ago, the Senate passed the FY 2010 Consolidated Appropriations Act, sending the bill to the President for his signature.

The measure includes $1.149 billion for the Corporation for National and Community Service and its programs, the highest funding level in the Corporation’s history. This budget is a strong vote of confidence in the value of national service as a critical tool for solving our nation's toughest challenges, and will enable us to strengthen and expand existing programs and invest in key initiatives authorized by the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act.

We thank both the House and Senate leadership and the Appropriations Committees for their hard work to produce a strong funding level for national service during this tough budget year.

Further details, including bill text, manager’s statement, and an updated chart are on our budget page, and our press release is pasted below. We will let you know when the President signs the bill.

Nicola Goren
Acting CEO
