Statement from Bill Basl, Director, AmeriCorps, Regarding Death of National Service Member

Our thoughts are with the family, friends, and fellow Student Conservation Association team members of Reed McWilliams who passed away last evening.

A resident of Alaska, Reed joined national service to provide environmental education programming to New Hampshire’s residents and visitors, and complete conservation service projects that improve and protect the state’s cultural, recreational, and natural resources. The safety and health of our members are our top priorities, and we are working with Volunteer New Hampshire and the Student Conservation Association to ensure Reed’s fellow members, the staff with whom he worked, and those whose lives he touched through service have access to counseling and other services that will help them through this difficult time.
