Out-of-the-Box Thinker from Dallas to Serve as Senior Advisor for Corporation for National and Community Service
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), the federal agency for service and volunteering, has announced the appointment of April Box as Senior Advisor for Partnerships and Outreach.
“As we embark on advancing our mission by deepening and broadening our community support, April’s visionary expertise will help us build strong national partnerships,” said Barbara Stewart, CEO of the Corporation for National and Community Service. “We are fortunate to have someone of her caliber with a strong history of achievement to break new ground in this critical work.”
Box is unwavering in her passion for organizations focused on improving lives and strengthening communities. She served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Methodist Health System Foundation and Senior Vice President of External Affairs for Methodist Health System in Dallas. During her 14 years with Methodist, Box presided over numerous successful transformational programs that assured the organization’s ability to serve more patients and their families for years to come. In addition, she led the team charged with rebranding the health system and significantly increased awareness of its services.

Box has been honored with the Women in Business Change Maker Award from the Dallas Business Journal and Outstanding Fundraising Executive of the year from the Dallas Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Upon coming to Washington, D.C., she took on a leadership role in the Washington/Baltimore Young Presidents’ Organization-Gold, chairing its opening event this year.
Box is a graduate of Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn., and received a Master of Liberal Arts from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. She has two sons, Will, an executive with the Outcast Agency in San Francisco; and Travis, a student at the University of Texas.
