FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Oct 19, 2010

Washington, DC – Patrick A. Corvington, CEO of the Corporation for National and Community Service, will deliver the keynote address at the NGen Leadership Award Ceremony at Independent Sector's Annual Conference in Atlanta on October 19.

In his address, Corvington will congratulate a group of distinguished nonprofit leaders under the age of 40 for using their passion and experience to shift the nonprofit leadership paradigm and improve the effectiveness of the social sector. He will also challenge nonprofit leaders to attract and nurture tomorrow's young service leaders and focus on ways to expand the nonprofit talent pool to achieve greater results for diverse communities.

Under Corvington's leadership, the agency is leading efforts to strengthen the nonprofit sector by building the nation's strongest pipelines to nonprofit leadership through its Americorps program. Over the past 17 years, almost 600,000 young people have served their communities through AmeriCorps and many of them have gone on to pursue careers in service.

Corvington will join Kristin Cambell, Director of Programs and New Media of the National Conference on Citizenship and other nonprofit, foundation, and corporate giving leaders.
