The School of Nursing and Health Sciences (SNHS) at Simmons College in Boston, MA values the unique AmeriCorps experience of community service and leadership. in partnership with AmeriCorps, SNHS will award a total of three scholarships (one in each designated SNHS program) to AmeriCorps alumni who have been accepted on a full-time basis to one of three programs: Nutrition and Health Promotion (MS only); Nursing (Direct Entry MS only); Physical Therapy (DPT). A scholarship will be awarded to one accepted student in each of these programs. No more than one scholarship award will be granted for each program.

To be eligible for these merit awards, AmeriCorps alumni must have completed a minimum of one year of AmeriCorps service; earned a GPA of 3.5 in the prerequisite courses for the specified program and on overall GPA of 3.5 in undergraduate studies and be admitted to/enroll full-time on a continuous basis in one of the programs listed above. No separate application is required. Applicants must indicate on their resume their participation in AmeriCorps and one of their recommendations must be from an AmeriCorps supervisor. Currently, the application fee is waived for nutrition and nursing candidates. The application fee cannot be waived for DPT applicants since that admission process operates via a central application system administered by an external vendor which does not grant application fee waivers on behalf of colleges. For 2015 onward, the nursing program may also transition to a common application system, and the application fee cannot by waived.
