Since the pandemic, a few ALU LIKE Inc. AmeriCorps Seniors Foster Grandparent volunteers in Hawaii created videos to share with their students. To celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day, volunteers read and recorded a story about Martin Luther King Jr. to children. They also recorded an art lesson drawing of the Freedom Tree for older children and youths.

Hawaii is a melting pot of diversity. Learning to embrace differences and finding things we have in common are some things our volunteers teach their students. Whether it’s face-to-face, virtually, or a video recording, our volunteers help students appreciate our freedom, acknowledge individuals who have dedicated and sacrificed their lives, and accept everyone.

Our Foster Grandparents nurture the hearts and minds of our youths. They continuously support the families and communities.
