Daniel Subdiaz is an AmeriCorps member who served at Booker T. Washington Senior High School in the Overtown neighborhood of Miami, Fla.
"During my time in college, I noticed fewer students from economically disadvantaged areas. I also learned how the challenges we faced growing up followed us into adulthood. These inspired me to serve with AmeriCorps, where I connected with students facing challenges similar to those my peers and I grew up with in Inglewood, Calif. Through service, I wanted to help them realize their potential."
