2022 AmeriCorps State and National Tribal Funding Priorities
The FY 2022 AmeriCorps State and National Tribal Grants competition, AmeriCorps seeks to prioritize the investment of national service resources in:
- Efforts to help local communities respond to and recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. Applicants may propose programming to aid communities in their efforts to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, including outcomes of COVID-19 on student subgroups described in the Elementary and Secondary Education Act.
- Educational opportunity and economic mobility for communities experiencing persistent unemployment or underemployment, and students experiencing homelessness or those in foster care.
- Programs that prioritize civic engagement/social cohesion.
- AmeriCorps is committed to working on a Nation–to–Nation basis with Tribal Nations and upholding the federal government’s Tribal trust responsibility.
- Economic Opportunity – including digital skills and increased access to broadband.
- Education – improving student academic performance in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), traditional knowledge and indigenous language, and/or serving students who attend Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) schools.
- Veterans and Military Families, Caregivers, and Survivors – a program model that improves the well-being of military families, caregivers, and survivors.
- Environmental stewardship and climate change including renewable energy and energy efficiency, building community resilience, sustainable food systems and agriculture, water/wastewater, and conservation and habitat preservation.
To receive priority consideration, applicants must show that the priority area is a significant part of the program focus and intended outcomes. Proposing programs that receive priority consideration does not guarantee funding.
Application Deadline
The deadline for applications to the 2022 Notice is Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time. AmeriCorps State and National expects that successful applicants will be notified by early July 2022.

Applicant Operational and Financial Management Survey (OFMS)
Applicant Operational and Financial Management Survey (OFMS)
- All new and recompeting applicants regardless of funding level are required to submit an Operational and Financial Management Survey (OFMS).
- Some grantees may have completed a Financial Management Survey (FMS) in the past. The Operational and Financial Management Survey (OFMS) is a different document, and the old FMS will not be accepted in place of the OFMS.
- The form needs to be completed fully, a response for every question. If there are additional comments needed to explain certain responses, please utilize the ‘preparer’s comments’ section.
- The OFMS must be submitted as Word Document. All other formats, including PDF, will not be accepted.
- If possible, please limit the amount of times and locations the document is saved prior to submitting to AmeriCorps. We’ve found that the macros used to extract data from the form can be corrupted by saving the file in different formats or locations.
Clarification
AmeriCorps may ask an applicant for clarifying information. AmeriCorps staff will use this information to make funding recommendations. Not all applications are clarified. A request for clarification does not guarantee an award. Applicants may be recommended for funding even if they are not asked for clarifying information. An applicant's failure to respond to a request for clarification adequately and in a timely manner may result in the removal of its application from consideration.
