We are facing a youth mental health crisis, with one in three high school students reporting persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness. Together with Pinterest and the Schultz Family Foundation, AmeriCorps launched Youth Mental Health Corps to address this crisis head-on.

WFU Students Meet Critical Public Health Needs

In August 2022, Wake Forest was selected for the Public Health AmeriCorps program, a new federally-funded program that aims to address urgent public health needs in communities and train the next generation of public health leaders. Last year, the Community Care Center provided 11,000 patient visits, making it one of the largest free health clinics in the Southeast. Nonprofits Scramble for Help Amid Dearth of Volunteers

Every day, thousands of people in the U.S. donate their time, skills and energy to their communities by volunteering with nonprofit organizations. But recently released data from the U.S. Census and AmeriCorps showed that volunteer participation fell 7% between 2019 and 2021, part of a long trend in declining volunteerism.⁠ ⁠ As pandemic-related government aid programs end and inflation rises, nonprofits are trying everything they can to recruit volunteers. ⁠Read more on AP News.
