Thinking about holiday volunteering? Here’s how to make it go the distance

While Americans prepare their menus and shopping lists, many also use this time of year to give back to their communities. More than 75.7 million people, or around 28 percent of Americans, formally volunteered last year for a total of nearly 5 billion service hours, according to a recent AmeriCorps report.
