AUSTIN, Texas – Mayors and county executives across the country will participate in a national day of recognition on April 7, 2015, to highlight the impact of AmeriCorps and Senior Corps and thank individuals who serve.
AUSTIN, Texas – On Wednesday afternoon, Mayor Lee Leffingwell will join the current and incoming presidents of the National League of Cities at an event at Austin City Hall to highlight the impact of national service on city challenges.
 
At a time of fiscal constraint, the nation’s mayors are increasingly turning to national service as a cost-effective strategy to address city problems.

New facility will serve Maryland, and 13 other states and territories

BALTIMORE, Md.  – Civic leaders, elected officials, and community groups joined together today to open the doors of the new AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) Atlantic Region Campus at the former Sacred Heart of Mary School in Baltimore.

 

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) will open the doors of its new AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) campus in Baltimore on Monday, November 3.

CNCS CEO Wendy Spencer, Sen. Barbara Mikulski, and Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake will deliver remarks. They will be joined by AmeriCorps NCCC Director Jose Phillips and currently serving AmeriCorps members. A tour of the recently renovated facility will immediately follow.

 

Washington, D.C. — The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) today kicked off its 2015 AmeriCorps grant competition by releasing its Notice of Funding Opportunity for organizations interested in using national service as a solution to critical problems facing our communities and the nation.

“Our thoughts are with the family, friends, and fellow AmeriCorps NCCC team members of Sheldon Allmon. The physicians at Denver Health determined that Sheldon passed away Saturday evening as a result of injuries he sustained after being hit by a car on Friday.
 
“This is an incredibly heartbreaking moment, as Sheldon was preparing to begin his 10-month-long-service as an AmeriCorps NCCC member. Sheldon’s decision to join AmeriCorps NCCC marked his first time away from his Auburn, California home.

 

Institution receives the Presidential Award for interfaith service
