WHEREAS, service to others is a hallmark of the American character, and central to how we meet our challenges; and
WHEREAS, the nation’s Mayors are increasingly turning to national service and volunteerism as a cost-effective strategy to meet city needs; and
Unanimous resolution calls national service a “critical and cost-effective solution”
DALLAS – In another sign of growing bipartisan support for national service, the United States Conference of Mayors today unanimously passed a resolution endorsing national service as a cost-effective solution to the challenges facing America’s cities.
Program’s Growth Announced at First-Ever White House Maker Faire
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, President Obama is hosting the first-ever White House Maker Faire to celebrate a nation of makers, and to help empower America’s students and entrepreneurs to invent the future. In response to the President’s call to action, the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) is expanding its Maker Education Initiative to provide this educational opportunity to more than 22,000 students and families in these cities.
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), which administers AmeriCorps, and the Department of Justice today announced "justice AmeriCorps," a strategic partnership to increase national service opportunities while enhancing the effective and efficient adjudication of immigration proceedings involving certain children who have crossed the U.S. Border without a parent or legal guardian.
$30 million in education scholarships would support 8,000 new AmeriCorps members
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) today announced the AmeriCorps Partnerships Challenge, a call to action to the private sector, nonprofits, philanthropies, and public agencies at every level to develop proposals to expand AmeriCorps service opportunities.
