At SOAR Summit, CNCS CEO announces $1.24 million investment for 56 AmeriCorps VISTAs 

PIKEVILLE, KY. – The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) announced it will invest more than $1.24 million to support the Shaping Our Appalachian Region (SOAR) initiative to improve the economy and quality of life in Eastern Kentucky.

Operation AmeriCorps will support 80 AmeriCorps members over two years for Flint schools

FLINT, MICH. –The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), the federal agency that administers AmeriCorps, today announced that Flint will be one of 10 communities nationwide to become part of the agency’s new Operation AmeriCorps initiative.

On Wednesday, May 6, Mayor Dayne Walling welcomes Corporation for National and Community Service CEO Wendy Spencer on a media conference call to announce a first of-its-kind AmeriCorps project for Flint elementary schools and students. 
 
The Corporation for National & Community Service (CNCS) is the federal agency that engages citizens in service through AmeriCorps, Senior Corps, Social Innovation Fund, and other programs. Wendy Spencer was appointed to serve as CEO of CNCS by President Obama and confirmed unanimously by the U.S.
