Six organizations will lead service activities across the nation 
 
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The federal agency that leads national Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service, the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), today announced the six organizations selected to plan and execute volunteer projects that will unite Americans in service.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator Tom Harkin joined the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) today to present the first annual Tom Harkin Excellence in AmeriCorps Awards to five AmeriCorps members and programs from around the nation.

The Tom Harkin Excellence in AmeriCorps Awards were created in honor of Senator Tom Harkin, a lifelong champion for national service, to recognize the outstanding and innovative AmeriCorps programs tackling our nation’s most pressing challenges.

Morehead University RSVP program will build on national service resources that are helping repair homes, manage volunteers, and distribute donated goods

MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) announced that Morehead University Senior Corps RSVP Program will receive a grant of $155,000 to support long-term disaster recovery in Eastern Kentucky. CNCS awarded funding in response to devastating floods the week of July 13 in Carter, Rowan, and Johnson Counties.

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Community Service Commission, joined by Wendy Spencer, CEO of the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), the federal agency that administers AmeriCorps, today announced new AmeriCorps and Senior Corps funding of more than $9.6 million to support AmeriCorps members and Senior Corps volunteers serving in nonprofits across Oklahoma.

Operation AmeriCorps will support 76 AmeriCorps members over two years, generate more than $1.1 million investment in the community
