CEO will tour AmeriCorps service projects and announce new resources to help flood recovery in South Carolina  
 
COLUMBIA, S.C. – On Tuesday, October 27, Wendy Spencer, CEO of the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), will travel to Columbia, S.C. to meet with AmeriCorps members and witness recovery efforts firsthand.  During her site visits, Ms. Spencer will announce new resources to support in the continued disaster recovery efforts.

Grants will support research to increase understanding and knowledge of national and community service, volunteering, and civic engagement

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Yesterday, Wendy Spencer, CEO of the Corporation of National and Community Service (CNCS), announced $923,000 in research grants from the Office of Research and Evaluation to increase the nation’s understanding and knowledge about the importance of volunteering, national service, and civic engagement in America.

More than 400 national service members already deployed to assist in recovery efforts

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) has deployed more than 400 AmeriCorps members to areas devastated by massive flooding in South Carolina. Hundreds of additional AmeriCorps members are on standby for deployment.

Program Will Honor Thousands of Veterans Across the U.S. Who Continue to Serve Their Communities

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Department of Justice, through its Elder Justice Initiative and its Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) and the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), the federal agency which administers AmeriCorps and other national service programs, are announcing Elder Justice AmeriCorps, a new grant program to provide legal assistance and support services to victims of elder abuse, neglect and exploitation and to promote pro bono capacity building in the field.

The Tom Harkin Excellence in AmeriCorps Awards were created in honor of Senator Tom Harkin, a lifelong champion for national service, to recognize the outstanding and innovative AmeriCorps programs tackling our nation’s most pressing challenges.

MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) announced that Morehead University Senior Corps RSVP Program will receive a grant of $155,000 to support long-term disaster recovery in Eastern Kentucky. CNCS awarded funding in response to devastating floods the week of July 13 in Carter, Rowan, and Johnson Counties.
