New AmeriCorps Grants for Veterans Corps Strengthen Administration's Joining Forces Initiative
Chicago - The Corporation for National and Community Service announced that more than 1,000 new AmeriCorps members will deploy across the United States in 2012 to provide education, employment and other services to veterans and military families, the largest number in the agency's history.
276 Organizations Receive Grants to Boost Impact on Education, Vets, Disasters, and Other Areas
Chicago -- As thousands of service leaders gathered at the National Conference on Volunteering and Service today, Corporation for National and Community Service CEO Wendy Spencer announced $213 million in new AmeriCorps grants to strengthen the impact of more than 275 organizations across the country in tackling the most pressing challenges facing communities and the nation.
Chicago, Ill. -- The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) is awarding 282 grants to national and local nonprofits that will engage nearly 46,000 new AmeriCorps members in improving lives and strengthening communities from coast to coast.
The AmeriCorps grants total $214.6 million and are going to a wide range of national and local organizations, state service commissions, faith-based groups, educational institutions, and Indian Tribes.

CNCS, Points of Light Announce Partnership with National Forum on Youth Violence
Washington, D.C. -- Today, the Corporation for National and Community Service, in collaboration with Points of Light, announced the expansion of an AmeriCorps VISTA project to support the efforts of the National Forum on Youth Violence to promote pathways to opportunity for at-risk youth, while working to eliminate youth violence.
