Dear Colleagues:
Today President Obama submitted to Congress his FY 2010 budget request for the Corporation for National Service and our programs. Our complete budget justification document is available now on our budget page; below is a brief summary of its contents.
"It is a pleasure to join you all.
"There are few times in history when the saying ‘we are all in this together’ would be more applicable than now.
"Events like this one show how truly connected our world is;
"how one person’s invention can create an entirely new economy;
"how one person can change how we see the world.
"The ability of one person to influence the outcome of someone else’s life inspires me.

Dear Colleagues,
On April 21, 2009, President Obama signed the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act into law, ushering in a new era of service and volunteering for our nation.
The Act charges the Corporation for National and Community Service and our partners to dramatically expand opportunities for Americans to serve, to focus on critical national issues, to be a catalyst for social innovation, and to support the nonprofit sector. The law both expands our existing programs and creates new initiatives to increase service opportunities and strengthen our civic infrastructure.
