ORLANDO, FL -- The Corporation for National and Community Service has convened hundreds of nonprofit leaders at the Hilton Orlando this week for the first-ever national symposium of AmeriCorps VISTA sponsors.
This three-day event is an opportunity for 600 AmeriCorps VISTA sponsors to learn new tactics for recruiting and training AmeriCorps VISTA members, discover the latest developments in project management and evaluation, and build critical connections with other nonprofit leaders from across the country.
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) recently began partnering with the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) to engage Senior Corps volunteers in support of VA’s Choose Home Initiative, enabling older Veterans to receive needed homemaker and daily living support in their homes, rather than move into health care institutions.
The Corporation for National and Community Service joins the nation in mourning the passing of Sen. Thad Cochran. His distinguished service to his home state of Mississippi and our nation during his five decades on Capitol Hill will be remembered fondly by those he represented as their champion.
WASHINGTON, D.C. –The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) today announced $560 million in AmeriCorps funding – including grants and education awards – to help national and local organizations, faith-based groups, and educational institutions respond to the most critical issues facing communities in the U.S. In total, this funding will provide 65,000 Americans the opportunity to serve their communities through AmeriCorps, which marks its 25th anniversary later this year.
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), the federal agency for service and volunteering, has deployed more than 200 AmeriCorps members, most of whom are part of the AmeriCorps Disaster Response Team, to areas of Iowa and Nebraska impacted by severe flooding. Previously, AmeriCorps members provided assistance in Missouri, and additional teams are on standby.

During National Volunteer Week, we acknowledge the many Americans who generously give their time and talents to help improve the lives of others. Their acts of kindness help build a better and brighter future, and remind us that we all have a role to play in making our communities safer, healthier, and stronger.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) today announced more than $13.6 million in funding to support senior volunteer service in more than 150 communities across the country. The Senior Corps grants will both strengthen existing programs and establish new areas of service for the Senior Corps RSVP program.
WASHINGTON, D.C. (February 5, 2019) -- A new independent report that provides evidence that consistent volunteering can improve the health and well-being of people age 55 and older was released today by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), the federal agency responsible for the nation’s volunteer and service efforts.
Last night we lost an American hero. On the day we celebrated the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., we said goodbye to Harris Wofford. Harris was a tireless champion for national service, a patriot who loved his country, a beloved friend and mentor to many, and a guiding light who called us to serve and lifted our sights to achieving America’s promise for all.
