President George H.W. Bush often said that, “Any definition of a successful life includes service to others,” and he lived out those words to the fullest. From enlisting in the Navy at age 18, to serving as a decorated World War II naval pilot, as ambassador to China and the United Nations, as CIA director, vice president, and the nation’s 41st president, he devoted his entire life to public service.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – More Americans than ever are volunteering, according to a new federal study released today by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), the federal agency that oversees AmeriCorps and Senior Corps.
GARVIN, OKLA. – Forest Grove Public School in Garvin, Okla. has been awarded a new opioid-focused AmeriCorps VISTA project valued at nearly $9 million by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), the federal agency that oversees AmeriCorps. A three-year grant, this funding will support nearly 700 AmeriCorps members in total. The grant was announced by Congressman Markwayne Mullin at a community event in Garvin, Okla.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), the federal agency for volunteering and service, announced it has invested more than $14.9 million in opioid-related AmeriCorps and Senior Corps projects to address the current epidemic. The federal investment supports 1,800 AmeriCorps members and Senior Corps volunteers in all 50 states.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), the federal agency that administers AmeriCorps and leads the nation’s volunteer efforts, has deployed members of the AmeriCorps Disaster Response Team and FEMA Corps, to Hurricane Michael impacted communities in Florida and Georgia.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – One year after Hurricane Maria made landfall, the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), the federal agency that administers AmeriCorps and leads the nation’s volunteer efforts, remains committed to the long-term recovery of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. AmeriCorps Disaster Response Teams, including FEMA Corps, remain on the islands even today and additional teams will deploy in the coming weeks.
“As part of the federal family, we are committed to helping communities impacted by Hurricane Florence respond, recover, and rebuild,” said Barbara Stewart, CEO of the Corporation for National and Community Service, the federal agency that administers AmeriCorps. “We have pre-positioned hundreds of our AmeriCorps Disaster Response Teams to be able to respond as soon as it is safe to do. While the urge to help can be great, please remember not to self-deploy or send unsolicited donations.
